Flannel and Beaver Bedding
Every year, the same questions keep coming up. Which bed linen is the best for me in winter? We are going to get to the bottom of this question today and clarify it.
There are many fabrics that are used for processing bedding sets. However, not all substances are suitable for every season. Each type of fabric has different properties and therefore different advantages and disadvantages. Seersucker, satin and jersey are typical summer bedding sets. They have the ideal property to cool down warm nights. The opposite of these types of fabrics are flannel and beavers. They warm optimally in cold temperatures and are also really cuddly soft. Flannel or beaver bedding is therefore the perfect winter bedding.
Why flannel and beaver bedding is a winter bedding
In the upper section we learned that the flannel as well as the beaver bed linen is ideally warmed. The reason is the fabric structure. Flannel means wool from French ("flanelle") or from English ("flannel"). A distinction is made between wool flannel and cotton flannel. Flannel has special wintry properties. The fabric is characterized by its lightness as well as warming and absorbent properties. That's why flannel bedding is so popular in winter.
An alternative to flannel is definitely the fabric beaver. The fur is not used by the fluffy animals. Here, only cotton flannel fibres are used for processing. The special thing here is that the surfaces are roughened. This makes the beaver bedlinen feel a bit thicker and thus acquires its fluffy soft property. In addition to the flannel properties – warming and absorbent – beavers have a particularly temperature-balancing and breathable effect. Fine beaver bedding, on the other hand, is even softer. Here the fabric, as the name already reveals, is even finer and lighter. The difference with beavers is in the processing. In the case of fine beavers, only one surface is gently roughened. Fine beaver bedding can be washed safely at 60°C. However, the time to dry takes a little longer than with microfiber fine beavers.
