Offpage Connector

The neural subsystem node allows us to split our circuit up into discrete, functional parts. But this leaves the problem of how do you connect nodes in one subsystem to a node in another system? This is done using an offpage connector. It can represent any node in any part of the system. This node has all of the basic properties that are common to nodes in general. The most important property is the Linked Node item. When you click on this property you get a drop-down that lists all of the nodes in the biomechanical organism, split up by the diagrams they are contained within. This allows you to select any node in the biomechanical organism. Once you do then this offpage connector essentially "stands in" for that other node. When you draw connections to or from it then you are really connecting to the other node that can be located on an entirely different diagram, or in a different location in the same diagram.

Figure 1. An example of how the offpage connector allows you to connect nodes that are located in different diagrams.
